Coconut oil is the carrier that everything else in Keshsar sits in. We use virgin oil — unrefined, not bleached or deodorised — which gives the finished preparation its distinct scent and allows small variations between batches.
Across southern and western India, coconut oil has long been used in everyday hair-oiling practice. It is fluid when warm and spreads easily through the scalp and lengths.
Below roughly 24 °C, virgin coconut oil can look cloudy or set solid. Stand the closed bottle in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes and it will return to liquid. Nothing has gone wrong.
