भृंगराज
Eclipta alba
Bhringraj grows as a low, spreading herb with small white flowers in moist ground across much of India. It is one of the plants most closely associated with traditional Indian hair-oil preparation.
For Keshsar, the herb is dried and powdered before it is added to the warm coconut oil base. A slow infusion allows its deep green-brown colour and earthy aroma to pass into the oil.
Its presence is descriptive and traditional: it is one of eight botanicals infused into the base, and one reason the finished oil is dark rather than pale.
